This paper provides a comprehensive critical analysis of the Mizo novel Zorinpari,
authored by H. Lalngurliani. The study examines the novel's omniscient narrative framework,
uncovering the subtle presence of the author's voice and deeply embedded thematic elements.
It offers detailed character sketches of central figures—Pi Thlanpuii, Thoithoii (Romila),
Zorinpari (Thoichanu), and Romena—highlighting their resilience, faith, and pivotal roles
within the narrative structure. A significant focus is placed on the novel's detailed and
authentic integration of Meitei cultural practices, including naming conventions, elaborate
marriage customs (such as Subh Vivah and Gandarba Vivah), death rituals, and societal
norms. Furthermore, the paper analyzes the theological underpinnings of the text, specifically
addressing the author's perspectives on the Trinity, divine love as the core of Christianity, and
the inclusive nature of salvation. Finally, the study categorizes Zorinpari as a definitive work
of women's literature. This classification is supported by the predominance of female
protagonists, a discernible authorial bias towards women, and the nuanced depiction of
feminine psychology, domestic life, and unique struggles. Ultimately, the analysis highlights
the novel's literary merit, showcasing its successful blending of Mizo and Meitei cultural
landscapes while delivering a profound Christian message.
